KEY WORDS:

PAGES: 35
BIG AREA: Ciências da Saúde
AREA: Educação Física
SUMMARY:

The olimpization of skateboarding inaugurates another pattern of relationship between the State and the modality, a marginalized practice and subculture that has suffered from repression throughout its history, but which currently guarantees support and conditions for its production as a sport-spectacle. Thus, this research seeks to describe and explain how skateboarding is organized in Brazil, as well as to investigate the sport's relations with the State after its Olympics. To this end, from the contextualization of the emergence and development of skateboarding amid the invention of new sports in late capitalism, its forms of professionalization and institutional organization will be presented and discussed, as well as public policies aimed at the modality in Brazil will be analyzed, in special, those organized by the federal government together with the Brazilian Skate Confederation (CBSK). This is a qualitative research that, from an operational and technical point of view, will include a bibliographical review (systematic and narrative) and a documental survey, the latter carried out from primary sources (direct and indirect administration documents of the federal government; from CBSK and sport administration entities in the states) and secondary (documents produced by the specialized media). For the treatment of data and information, techniques of content analysis and analysis of public policies will be combined, seeking a better understanding of the skateboard industrialization process in the country, its management and financing. The research starts from the initial assumption that skateboarding in Brazil is a sport that has become professionalized and industrialized, a movement that, from its Olympics, gains new impetus, starting to enjoy legitimacy before the State to claim guarantees and conditions for its production as spectacle, mobilizing economic and symbolic capital. Therefore, the challenge of this investigation involves the transition from a historically marginalized corporal practice, for subverting the “disciplinary” logic of the city and of the sport itself, which now enjoys great prestige, supported and financed by the State as a new Olympic modality.
