SUMMARY:

The purpose of the following research is to continue the studies of the master’s thesis: “A HISTORY OF DANCE IN BRASILIA SCHOOLS: MEMOIRS OF PARK-SCHOOL FROM 1960 TO 1974”. This research aims to characterize dance in Brasília’s original basic educational curriculum, taking into account the educational philosophy of Anísio Teixeira. It can be concluded that the park school represented a privileged space for cultural activities development, such as dance, being part of the education of children and young people residing in Plano Piloto during that period. Analyzing this whole scenario, other questions that refer to the continuity of dance teaching that was proposed in the Educational Plan of Brasília emerged. Currently, Brasília/DF has 8 park schools, 5 in Brasília and 3 in the Administrative Regions of DF, thus, was there a follow-up to the educational model proposed by Anísio Teixeira? If there are adaptations and readaptations of the initial idea, are there any fragments that refer to the original curriculum? What would these fragments be? And dance in the current context, has it strengthened, and weakened, is there a regulated direction or is it performed intuitively? For a more comprehensive understanding of dance at schools nationwide, a review of the thesis and dissertations published from 2015 to 2020 was carried out. The results showed that there is a multipurpose approach in aspects considered essential by teachers, demonstrating that the curriculum themselves have little or no influence on pedagogical practices. This first stage of the work presents general laws that govern dance in the national curriculum and Brasília/DF, and spaces are being conquered by the dance in these terms. Specifically, in the curriculum that governs park schools, there was an attempt to contemplate ideas presented by Anísio Teixeira in the original curriculum. However, the way dance is offered in schools is not defined in a standardized way. The park schools have carried out their dance activities according to the internal organization of each school institution. Among the accomplishment of dance projects in park schools, three were defined in which the investigation will be deepened. It was also observed that the responsibility for teaching dance at school has been the responsibility of art, physical education, or dance teachers, and teachers licensed in dance, working in this discipline, are still a minority in park schools’ reality. In other words, it is necessary that there is an understanding in the school culture about the importance of this discipline, as well as expanding the holding of contests for this area. This research will help scholars to emerge in the reality of dance in schools from the perspectives of different curricula and school pedagogical practices.
