CONSTRUCTION OF LEARNING OBJECTS FOR THE TEACHING OF STRUCTURES IN ARCHITECTURE COURSES
Teaching of Architecture; Blended Learning; Flipped classroom.
This research starts from the discussion about the specificity of teaching structures in architecture courses and the need to expand pedagogical variations that can help teaching, considering the growing complexity of contents. Based on the researcher's personal trajectory and the conduction of an exploratory research, the work describes the current situation of the teaching of structures in Brazil and its recurring problems as well as seeks to build possibilities to expand the literature on the teaching of structures in architecture based on international experiences and specific bibliography on the study of teaching models. The main theme of this work, the Learning Objects (LOs), come from the study of hybrid teaching models and the need to build didactic resources for these models. The LOs are digital resources that can be used to support learning. Its main characteristic is Reusability in different teaching contexts. Therefore, the objective of this work is to develop and evaluate a learning object for the teaching of structures in architecture, using as methodological procedures a qualitative research approach in a theoretical model of action research. The body of work addresses the technical and pedagogical characteristics of the LOs, LO planning and the principles of Instructional Design that can be used to assist its development, as well as authoring tools that can be used for the construction and repositories in which the Object can be published. The work presents a brief review of the main theoretical approaches that underlie pedagogical practices and conceptualizes learning objectives and strategies. The partial results from the theoretical foundation include the first guidelines for the development and evaluation of the Object, considering that it will focus on part of the content that, in architecture courses, is approached in disciplines as strength of materials, mechanics of solids or introduction to structural systems, encompassing the statics of structures, loads, efforts and stress states. This content is necessary in other subjects, such as project of steel, wood, concrete structures and foundations, considering that the Object can be reused in different contexts. Finally, this qualification presents the development schedule of the final stage of the research, consisting of the construction of data collection instruments, the development of the LO and the intervention in the form of an extension course which will work as basis to evaluate the Object.
