The Christian aristocracy in action: political model and power strategies (Castile, 15th century)
Christian aristocracy; medieval Castile; Alvaro de Luna; Gutierre Álvarez de Toledo.
This thesis analyzes political aspects of the configuration of the Christian aristocracy (lay and ecclesiastical) in the Castilian 15th century, focusing on the interweaving between the model of superiority of this social order and some of its strategies in the exercise of power, through two emblematic cases: that of the Constable Álvaro de Luna (1388-1453) and that of the Archbishop of Toledo, Gutierre Álvarez de Toledo (1376-1446).
