Digital Twin and Model-Based System Engineering Integration: A Proposal
Digital twin, model-based system engineering, MBSE, Capella, Arcadia.
This research has the objective of designing a digital twin (DT) and its related system simultaneously using model-based systems engineering (MBSE). To achieve this goal, an overview of the relationship between the two concepts was conducted based on a representative set of articles. The search yielded 444 unique and valid records, of which 16 were selected for analysis based on article screening and eligibility assessments. The selected articles were then analyzed to identify the types of DT-MBSE relationships and the areas of the case study. As a result, the types of relationships were categorized into two main categories: MBSE-based DT and DT that utilizes MBSE system models. The authors then presented a case study of the Perception Mission, a satellite data collection system designed to monitor and generate strategic assets, to illustrate one of the categories. Specifically, the study focused on collecting data from K34, a tower with micrometeorological instrumentation in the Amazon Forrest. The modeling was performed using the Capella software and the Arcadia methodology.
