SUMMARY:

The Covid-19 pandemic has proved disruptive changes in Brazilian education with the migration from in person to online teaching using digital platforms. Education professionals had to adapt to the new reality and to employ a considerable flow of information throughout the world wide web, involving personal data and teaching materials protected by intellectual property. This reality motivated the realization of this study, which was carried out by exploratory and bibliographical research on the use of digital platforms in remote education with a case study in a Higher Education Institution of the Federal District to analyze the benefits of remote teaching and the implications on information security to the protection of personal data and intellectual property in according with the General Data Protection Law. The research was applied because it seeks to use the knowledge obtained to solve problems arising from this teaching modality. Preliminary research results revealed that the change from in person to online teaching brought benefits and new challenges for educational inclusion, imposed the adoption of new teaching strategies for teachers and the need of training, and information security policies to comply with legal protection adequate personal data and intellectual property involved in academic processes.
