SUMMARY:

The standard model of cosmology is formulated considering a background metric plus perturbations, where the background field is spatially homogeneous and isotropic. Observations of the cosmic microwave background indicate that this is a good description for large scales (greater than 100 Mpc). However, it can be limited, especially when considering more local measurements. In this work, we review the standard cosmological model. Then, we apply the methodology used in the standard model considering the Bianchi I metric. We obtain the equations of motion, which are equations for the scale factors, and define functions to describe the expansion of the universe, drawing a parallel with the usual description in terms of the Hubble function. We also consider the form of the energy densities of cosmological fluids in this context of an anisotropic universe. We then solve the equations for the scale factors in different scenarios, finding analytical solutions in some cases.
