SUMMARY:

The Brazilian legal system provides, in addition to the right to family life for adolescents
deprived of liberty, the importance of family participation in the socio-educational process and the need
for work aimed at strengthening family and community ties. However, there is a gap between what the
legislation provides and what actually occurs in practice. This research has the general objective of
developing a theoretical-practical training proposal, of a pilot nature, based on the assumptions of the
collaborative-dialogical approach, aimed at professionals who serve families of adolescents in the context
of the socio-educational measure of confinement in the Federal District, taking into account the
qualification of this service. It is intended that the data collected in the first three stages of the research
compose a needs assessment in order to support the preparation of this proposal, which will be reported in
the fourth and final manuscript. The work will consist of 4 studies: the first of them brings a systematic 

review about families and family care in the context of the socio-educational measure of confinement in
Brazil. The second study foresees an investigation into how professionals who carry out socio-educational
measure of confinement in the Federal District – DF understand family care practices, including
challenges and potential. The third study aims to investigate the challenges and potential of family care in
the discursive reports of the families themselves. In the fourth and final study of this thesis, the aim is to
carry out a pilot intervention, of a formative nature, aimed at approximately 20 (twenty) professionals who
work in the socio-educational measure of confinement in the DF, aiming at a theoretical-practical
reflection on care strategies familiar. For this training, 08 (eight) face-to-face meetings are initially
planned, on a weekly basis, adopting the collaborative-dialogical approach as a theoretical lens. It is hoped
that this research will contribute to promoting more dialogical practices with the families served, based on
relationships and not just individuals, focused on potential and not just on problems or deficits. It is also
hoped that it will contribute, even if minimally, to breaking the cycle of invisibility and blaming these
families, by signaling the importance of work focused on their demands and specificities
