PREVENTION OF DATING VIOLENCE: BRAZIL AND PORTUGAL INTERFACES
dating violence; intervention programs; search; preventing dating violence
Dating violence is a complex and multi-determined phenomenon, which causes serious damage and a lot of suffering to those involved, and can also be a prelude to subsequent violence in marital relationships. Studies in the area indicate high incidence and prevalence rates among adolescents and young people – up to 80 to 90%, both of victimization (when someone suffers violence) and perpetration (when some form of violence is practiced). Therefore, the development and evaluation of interventions aimed at preventing violence in the dating context are extremely urgent. The divergence between the historical, geopolitical and socioeconomic realities of developed countries in the northern hemisphere and developing countries in the global south, however, present great differences in the conditions for research and development, implementation and dissemination of intervention programs. The present work aims, therefore, to map the state of the art of research and interventions for the primary prevention of dating violence in Brazil and Portugal. To this end, this qualification project is divided into: introduction; justification; research question; main goal; specific objectives; thesis structure; timeline; current stage of research and next steps; references; and annex.
