SUMMARY:

Sexuality is a central aspect of human development and is related to quality of life. Although palliative care aims to promote the quality of life of patients and families facing illnesses that affect the continuity of life and are common demands related to sexuality in this population, this dimension has recently been considered and addressed by the health team. Seeking to expand knowledge about these needs, this study aims to understand and analyze the quality of life, the experience of sexuality and the perception of sexual satisfaction of women with cancer in palliative care. This manuscript prepared for the qualification exam is divided into three categories: general presentation of the thesis; integrative review of the literature on the experience of sexuality of people with cancer in palliative care; The pilot study aims to evaluate whether the method defined for the research makes it possible to achieve the proposed objective. The latter is a quantitative and qualitative, cross-sectional, descriptive and exploratory study, carried out through a case study with a woman with cancer and in palliative care recruited from the Palliative Care Outpatient Clinic of the Support Hospital of the Federal District. The results obtained through the integrative review and the case study made it possible to carry out considerations regarding the limits and potential of the work, which, associated with this qualification exam and the suggested suggestions, will enable methodological refinement for conducting the thesis.
