TRANSLATION OF MANMAN DLO CONTRE LA FÉE CARABOSSE BY PATRICK CHAMOISEAU: CREOLE TRANSLATION AND CREOLENESS
In praise of Creoleness, Manman Dlo contre la fée Carabosse, identity, creolity, miscegenation.
The present research discusses the creolity aspect as an engaging movement of identity writing. To this end, I will use two books: In praise of Creoleness by Patrick Chamoiseau, Jean Bernabé and Raphäel Confiant to understand the components of what would constitute a truly Creole identity; and the play by Patrick Chamoiseau, entitled Manman Dlo contre la fée Carabosse as a representative of a writing centered on tradition, which seeks to rescue Creole values and beliefs. In this way, we seek to draw a parallel between the notion of creolity, creolization and mestizo writing in the French-speaking Antillean text, in addition to offering an unprecedented translation into Brazilian Portuguese.
