PAGES: 30
BIG AREA: Outra
AREA: Ciências Ambientais
SUMMARY:

The Cerrado is formed by a complexity of landscapes that contain enormous richness of plant species. However, despite its importance, the biome has been suffering intense degradation, loss of habitats and, consequently, loss of biodiversity. Considering that habitat fragmentation alters population dynamics, the study of its effects on the genetic diversity of species is necessary. Thus, the objectives of the study were to investigate the effects of habitat fragmentation on the genetic diversity of Cerrado plant species, discussing the factors and mechanisms that alter genetic diversity, and the possible consequences for the long-term viability of plant populations in this region. ecosystem. For this, a systematic review was carried out and as a result we found a strong relationship between loss of genetic diversity and habitat fragmentation. In addition, we conclude that other factors and environmental conditions are associated with fragmentation in the process of reducing genetic resources in Cerrado plant species. A case study will also be carried out with Acrocomia aculeta, in which the objectives will be to quantify the diversity of the species throughout a fragmented landscape and a preserved area, to evaluate how the composition of the landscape influences the diversity and genetic differentiation between populations and by order to investigate how populations are genetically grouped. In this study we expect to find a positive correlation between the decrease in gene flow and genetic diversity in fragmented areas. Furthermore, we also predict that landscape features will have a great influence on population differentiation mechanisms.
