The struggles of Afro women in Argentina: flourishing between the visible and the invisible
Afro-Latin American women; black feminism; gender; race; social movements; Argentina; Latin America
Given the invisibility of the Afro community in Argentina and the visibility of feminist movements in the country, this research revolves around understanding the ways that black women in Argentina have found to build and articulate their struggle in their own political spaces since 2016, between the visible and invisible of social movements in the country. The study will explore and try to make visible how Afro women in Argentina have built their struggles in their own political spaces, taking into account the multiple dimension of discrimination that is not only racial and gender-based, but also economic-social and foreignization (MOLINA; LÓPEZ, 2018). The research seeks to broaden the understanding of the Afrolatinoamerican context considering the centrality of women for these transnational political constructions in Latin America, and from there explore possible paths for links and exchanges between feminist and Afrolatinoamerican articulations throughout the region to promote human rights.
