"Auto de Resistência and (Un)submission in Brazil: a study on the jurisdiction of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights and police violence in the Federal District."

This research is based on the Brazilian condemnation in the case Favela Nova Brasília versus Brazil and aims to analyze the deaths of young black people in the Federal District due to police interventions and their repercussions in the judicial sphere. The present research project addresses police violence against the black population in the Federal District, aiming to verify the effectiveness of the jurisdiction of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IACHR) when it determined that Brazil should adopt the classification of homicide or bodily injury in cases of police intervention instead of "resistance to arrest" as a way to stop the deaths of young black people in Brazilian peripheries.
