Collective political mandates, political parties and social movements: a study on the meanings of political representation mobilized by the experience of "Gabinetona" in Belo Horizonte.
Democracy. Political representation. Political parties. Social movements. Collective political mandates. Political participation. Gabinetona.
The main objective of the research consists in understanding, from discourse to praxis, the limits, possibilities and contributions of “Gabinetona”, leaded by the parliamentarians Áurea Carolina and Cida Falabella, in the conformation of a political experience that promotes human rights, when classified, on the one hand, as "open, collective and popular”, and on the other hand, as representative of minority groups and intersectional agendas, in the City Council of Belo Horizonte (2017/2018). Considering the research proposal, the investigation of the main objective starts from the analysis of the experience of "Gabinetona", which initially brought together two parliamentarians (Áurea Carolina and Cida Falabella) and a "co-parliamentary" (Bella Gonçalves) in a mandate designated as “collective, open and popular”, originally gestated by “Many for the City we Want” (“Many”), a movement responsible for promoting the political candidacies that integrate the Gabinetona and for the elaboration of its political proposals. To achieve the main objective, this research designed three specific objectives: (i) analyze the meanings and practices of political representation from the Brazilian party representative system; (ii) investigate the history of collective and shared political mandates in Brazil; and (iii) detail and investigate the speech and practice of Gabinetona.
