Human rights education plays a fundamental role in higher education, as it is responsible for promoting a more comprehensive, ethical, and engaged academic formation, aiming at the construction of a more inclusive society. In this context, it becomes an important tool to develop individuals aware of their rights and responsibilities, capable of contributing significantly to the advancement of human rights realization. Thus, the present research project aims to analyze the conceptions and strategies adopted by private Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the Federal District for human rights education, in order to identify the presence of an emancipatory or normative perspective in the Institutional Development Plan (IDP) and the curricular frameworks of the offered courses. The choice of the private sphere is justified by the intensification of higher education as a market product that has been consolidating over the years, the lack of studies on the subject in these spaces, as well as the representation of this segment in the Brazilian higher education scenario where the majority of young students are. For a better understanding of this situation and its deepening, the analysis will be conducted through qualitative and exploratory research. The bibliographic research will provide support for the theoretical perspective, and the data collection will involve two procedures: documentary analysis of relevant legislations regarding human rights education in Brazil and the Institutional Development Plans of the researched HEIs, and semi-structured interviews with course managers and faculty members of these HEIs.
