ABSTRACT

The research aims to analyze the processes of usurpation and expropriation that traditional peoples and communities in Brazil have historically gone through, and in particular the traditional extractivist women of the Kalunga Territory in Goiás and Tocantins. The focus will be on analyzing and observing the dynamics of the dominant classes in their contact with quilombola women. These women are mostly extractivists who work with traditional products and services to make a living and who sell their surplus as a way of generating income. The central discussion is about racism and inequality, based on cultural and economic aspects and with the theoretical support provided by the book Unequal Society (Theodoro, 2022) and the discussion on whiteness produced by Cida Bento (2022). The research seeks to analyze, based on concrete cases to be studied, such as the exclusive registration of the "Baunilha do Cerrado" brand by the ATÁ Institute, the articulated networks that develop projects supported by public financial incentive policies, with a view to developing activities that address the sustainability and culture agenda. The project seeks to understand what convincing tricks or omission of information the agents use to convince these women to take part in their projects and how this can reflect dynamics of exploitation and expropriation of knowledge and work. In addition, we are interested in finding out whether the women have the necessary understanding of the processes they are involved in, in order to produce an analysis of how these cases end up reinforcing relationships based on the usurpation of rights.
