Social isolation among older people in time of social distancing from the Covid-19 pandemic

Brazilian society goes through a series of transformations, in cities and metropolises, in relation to the population profile, sociability processes, social configuration of human relations that present a complexity of interactions and technological, economic, political and sociocultural changes. In recent decades, with these social changes, elderly people living in urban areas have had less access to the presence of family members who are available for assistance and social interaction in everyday life. The present work seeks to answer the following question: “What are the main challenges/difficulties/obstacles for the social interaction of elderly people? since the social isolation of elderly people has the potential to become one of the biggest public health problems in contemporary society.
