BLACK WOMEN 60+: LIFE STORIES IN OLD AGE
Black women. Aging. Racial Inequality. Racism, Ageism, Sexism and Machismo
Even though aging is a natural process, it is still a complex and multidimensional phenomenon, as it involves physiological, structural and chemical changes in cells, it becomes a major challenge for society as a whole, as it involves a better quality of life. for dignified aging, however, racial inequality prevents everyone from having equal opportunities to age, especially black women. Objectives: To identify intersectionality in the daily life of the institution in the life stories of black women, elderly, Cecon participants, analyzing in the narratives of black women the intersectional issue of aging in the institution of coexistence and in society as a whole, as well as to seek in their narrative’s contributions to the reduction of gender inequality for the sixty plus age group, identifying in the documentary “Documentary writing - memories, experiences, bonds. Condão”, intersectionality. Method: this is a case study, of a descriptive nature, with a qualitative, exploratory approach with black women aged between 60 and 80 years, 1 to 2 women (60 to 69 years); 1 to 2 women (70 to 79 years old) and 1 to 2 women aged 80 years and over. Data will be collected through interviews and narratives. Result: showing that the aging of black women needs to be reviewed, especially the ways in which the analyzes of class, gender and racism inequalities in this population are carried out.
