I DO THIS IN THE MOST HONEST WAY AND STILL
THIS IS HOW THEY WILL CALL ME A THIEF: RAP AND TEACHING
HISTORY BETWEEN DISCOURSE ANALYSIS AND
REPRESENTATION.
rap, history teaching, Fanon.
This dissertation aims to discuss how rap, an important cultural element of Brazilian society, can contribute to the teaching of African history. For this, firstly, a survey was carried out using the systematic review methodology, mapping the productions that dealt with the theme of rap and education. Secondly, a brief historicization of rap was produced, highlighting Caribbean influences in the United Kingdom, resuming the elements of the movement that emerged in North America and finally arriving in Brazil, which is present throughout the territory. Finally, an attempt was made to read Djonga in his album “Ladão”, based on Fanon’s considerations in “Black skin, white masks” together with the concepts of discourse analysis and representation in order to achieve the research objective.
