A look at diversity: Memories and Silences of black participation in the Polenta Festival in Venda Nova do Imigrante/ES

This research addresses historical, political, economic and social dimensions that involve issues of culture, identity and belonging related to the representation of the black community in the municipality of Venda Nova do Imigrante/ES, through the Polenta Festival, a tradition of Italian origin. In this sense, it seeks to understand how cultural manifestations can create spaces for debate about diversity, as opposed to a hegemonic culture, denying the being/doing of others and removing their dignity. The objective of this study involves identifying and analyzing - through the foundations of interculturality - the knowledge and knowledge related to Afro-Brazilian culture, completing a historical path about the black population, its worldview, its insertion in Brazilian society and how this The community represents itself and is represented in the construction and historical conception of the Espírito Santo cities of Venda Nova do Imigrante and Vila Pavão, the latter stage of the Festa Pomitafro, which is studied as an analytical counterpoint to the Festa da Polenta.
