Received the Civil Engineering degree in 1996, the MS degree in Soil Mechanics in 2001, and the PhD degree (with honors) in Civil Engineering in 2011, all of them from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). As part of his PhD project, in 2008, he made an Academic Stay of one year at the University of Strathclyde, Scotland, U.K. From 1995 to 2013, he worked for the UNAM in geotechnical research projects related to numerical modelling, deep foundations and tunnels. From 1997 to 2013 he participated as geotechnical consultant in civil engineering projects all around the country (Mexico). Currently, he is an Associated Professor at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of the Universidade de Brasilia, Brasil. From 2008 to 2013, he participated in international research projects founded by the European Commission, such as: International Exchange Project between Latin-American and European Universities (GEO-EXCEL) and Advanced Modelling of Ground Improvement on Soft Soils (AMGISS).
