SUMMARY:

In Science Education there is a profusion of understandings about the political dimension, expressed such in research as in national official documents. Nevertheless, in a capitalist society, such generalization of the term “politics” is influenced and shaped by interests that result in the emptying of analyzes about this theme, treating it as a resolved issue, which configures a problem with an abundance of contradictions for Education. In order to dialectize this apparent resolution, we assume militancy/activism as an expression of political agency in the labor of teachers and make it the central object of this research. Therefore, we aim to investigate the assimilations and elaborations of natural science teachers about militancy/activism and its implications for and in the labor of teachers. For this purpose, we based ourselves theoretically and methodologically on Historical and Dialectic Materialism. Hopping to encourage debate and formulate understandings about militancy/activism in the area of Science Education, as well as offering resources for the creation of a counter-hegemonic political formation project for natural science teachers, we are going to lead interviews with natural science teachers that works in different labor conditions.
