SUMMARY:

This project consists of a bilingual terminological study that might culminates in a terminographic production, a glossary for the guajajara students from the basic education on Distrito Federal. The languages researched are the Brazilian Portugues and the Guajajara. (Tenetehara group, Tupi-Guarani family), both languages with presence in the Distrito Federal - DF. The terminology worked is part of the biology didatic materials and biology classes in a High School of Brasília, where there are Guajajara students. This research aims to contribute to the epistemological and applied advances of terminology and terminography, and, besides that, it aims to make advances in the field of bilingual education and discription of an indigenous language. We adopted the communicative theory of terminology (TCT), because we investigate communicative aspects of the terminology and not the development of a terminological normalization action. We also uses the sociocognitive theory of terminology (TST) due to its approach that its close to the cognitive theories. Other theoretical perspective is the etnoterminology, that follows the ideals of etnolinguistic and ecolinguistic and it has as object of study the etnoterms. The etnoterminology is a theoretical and methodological propose that argues that indigenous languages have terminologies, and so, they can be studied through its specialized lexicon. We also added to our theoretical board the concept of intercultural competences. We framed this study in a qualitative metodological perspective that will guide us in the investigation of the biology terminology, even in portuguese and guajajara. In order to know the guajajara terminology, we’ll start from the guajajara colaborators perspectives, through the terminological workshops. This method reunites a group of indigenous colaborators in order to participate and help the generation and transcription of linguistic data, and, besides that, it promotes a debate on each terminology and its equivalence. Between the methods of qualitative researchs, we also uses the ones recommended by etnography. The corpus is going to be formed of: 1. terminology from didatic books on biology that is used by the indigenous students; 2. Guajajara terminology that corresponds to the terminology previously collected in portuguese. The Data in guajajara language it will be generated by the terminological workshops and also by a bibliography reasearch.
