Urban algorithms: equalization of capacity and demand in the DF territory
urban density; carrying capacity; urban planning
This research aims to discuss the demand for housing at Federal District of Brazil and the low indexes of urban density set by the current urban legislation. Starting from the delimitation of an hydrographic basin that will be the territory of study, the research will map different factors such as environmental sensitivity areas, occupied areas and also areas subject to occupation with urban characteristics. The study will consider the carrying capacity of the territory to provide water and energy and absorb exponents of the sewage system and urban drainage, in order to deliver a sustainable density value that can be applied in the region. Therefore, and analyzing the demand for infrastructure inherent to building typologies, we will have enough data to guide the distribution of population density in unoccupied areas, as well as explore alternatives for revitalizing and increasing density wondering about new centralities in areas conducive to densification . The selected data will be processed at the Grasshopper visual programmer, an open source tool that allows the exploration of scenarios in real time through an algorithmic-parametric basis. We believe that, through this digital model, it will be possible to develop sustainable urban studies that help territory managers and urban planners in decision-making process to increase density in desired areas.
